Dallas, Texas – [Hosting Headlines] – SoftLayer, an on-demand hosting services and virtual data center provider for the small to medium enterprise (SME), has expanded its advanced, on-demand data center services portfolio.

Nathan Day, Chief Technology Officer at SoftLayer noted, ”CDNLayer is one more way we provide enterprise-class services to customers of any size. Consumer demand for online video and media-rich websites is exploding. Companies and individuals in every industry, from entertainment and gaming to social networking and e-commerce, will benefit from using CDNLayer to optimize their content management and delivery.”

By launching CDNLayer, an industry leading content delivery network (CDN), the solution will optimize the delivery of web content so that it arrives to end-users with increased speed and reliability. The service is priced at only $20.00 per month for the first 200GB of data transferred and only $0.20 per GB thereafter, making it the simplest and most competitive CDN solution in the market.

CDNLayer uses a network of multiple, geographically diverse server nodes running advanced software that organizes, stores, and streams online content. Rather than serving content directly from the host server to the end-user, CDNLayer moves content from the host server to a node that is geographically closer to the end-user. This minimizes the distance the data has to travel, avoiding network traffic jams, and decreasing latency. CDNLayer includes tools for improved management, helping with content monetization. In addition, it features the ease-of-use and increased control for which SoftLayer is known.

Nathan Day, Chief Technology Officer at SoftLayer remarked, ”The Internet originally was not designed to deliver content that requires large transfer rates, leading to poor performance, interruptions, and failed downloads. CDNLayer changes that. Content is delivered faster and more reliably, creating an improved user experience – leading end-users to spend more time on a site and use its services.”

Recently, SoftLayer opened a new data center location in the Washington D.C. area. The addition of this facility increases the company’s total capacity to 45,000 servers throughout their facilities located in Dallas, Seattle, and now D.C.

SoftLayer Washington D.C. is located just 7 miles from Dulles International Airport in a facility designed to full Tier IV standards. It features multiple redundant power connections in addition to the three 2-megawatt generators and eight, fully redundant, 750 kVA UPS systems. As with all SoftLayer data centers, the facility has 24×7 onsite support and multiple security protocols controlling entrance to the building. In addition, the facility boasts infrastructure features including:

34 x 480v 3-Phase PDUs

Redundant 30-ton CRAC Units

FM-200 Fire Suppression System with VESDA

Biometric Security System

Digital Security Video Surveillance

SoftLayer has already begun pre-selling servers in the new data center to current customers, receiving an unprecedented level of demand resulting in a high backlog of server requests. Mr. Crosby added, ”We knew interest in the new location would be high, from both existing and new customers. We wanted to give our current customers an opportunity to request servers here and meet their demand prior to opening sales to the general market.”

Headquartered in Plano, Texas, SoftLayer provides next-generation web hosting and on-demand datacenter services on a global basis from facilities located in Dallas, TX and Seattle, WA. Utilizing proprietary management tools coupled with the industry’s first network-within-a-network topology, the company delivers unprecedented power and control to securely manage IT environments while providing unparalleled scalability.

Houston, Texas – [Hosting Headlines] – The Planet, a well known and privately held dedicated hosting company, has unveiled six new promotions for May, including savings of up to 26 percent on its two Check Point solutions, as the company’s first-ever firewall discount.

Urvish Vashi, Director of Product Management at The Planet explained, ”The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard requires companies to have a secure firewall in place when accepting credit card payments. Companies that are compromised face serious risks as well as the loss of revenue and their hard-gained good reputations if there are breaches to their sites. This promotion signals a great time for companies to review their security profile and to consider an upgrade to their hosting infrastructures.”

The following promotions continue through May 31, 2008, or while promotional supplies last:

Firewall Upgrades: The Check Point X16, formerly priced at $89 per month, is now available for $69, a 22 percent savings. The Check Point XU is now available for $139 per month – reduced from $189 per month – a savings of 26 percent.

Double Down Select: This promotion provides customers the choice to double their base bandwidth, hard disk or RAM for free on new orders of the Kentsfield SATA or the Dual Xeon 2.8 IDE.

Dual Xeon 2.4 SCSI: Now priced at $143 per month – down from $219 – customers can take advantage of a 35 percent savings on this popular server.

Dedicated Backup Servers: For customers looking for special pricing on backup servers, the company is offering savings ranging from 13 percent to 29 percent on 500GB to 6TB servers.

Component Upgrades: Existing customers can take advantage of disk space, additional bandwidth and backup at 50 percent off current prices.

Ultimately, The Planet endeavors to provide:

High levels of network capacity and speed to deliver peak performance

Instant scalability to handle even the largest spikes in network traffic

Parallel, redundant, multi-tiered network routing and switching architecture to assure reliability and stability

Multiple layer network security that prevents Delayed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks from harming businesses

Knowledgeable experts with a passion for excellence and a commitment to operate the best networks in the business

The Planet is a leading provider of On Demand IT Infrastructure solutions, hosting over 22,000 small and medium size businesses and 6.7 million web sites worldwide, using the best choice of servers, software tools and support, backed by enhanced facilities and network connectivity.

Reading, United Kingdom – [Hosting Headlines] – DediPower’s Thames Valley Hosting Centre, a data center and co-location services firm, has been selected to suppport Favorit’s Web 2.0 blogging aggregation platforms globally.

Nick Halstead, CEO, Favorit noted, ”In selecting a co-location data centre, I was ultimately looking for a company to protect my IT infrastructure, with a track record of remote hands service excellence. DediPower stood out amongst its competitors and their reputation in the market was critical, as a new company offering innovative technology we need to get off on the right foot.”

With a global coverage in the blogoshere, Favorit required a data centre with solid network resilience and connectivity to house its critical IT infrastructure. Backed by Sun Microsystems, Favorit developed a web 2.0 application that aggregates blogs and centralises the commenting functionality, vastly simplifying the ability to view and comment, without having to access multiple sites. The blogopshere currently stands at more than 80 million blogs and deriving value from this wealth of information requires different ways of leveraging the community to produce new experiences for end users. For Favorit utilising a data centre leverages economies of scale and reduces the risk for their IT investment.

DediPower’s colocation solutions offer customers piece of mind that their servers will be safe and accessible 24×7x365, all housed within a secure environment with fully managed air-conditioning, redundant power supplies and high speed connectivity. Located on the outskirts of Reading, Berkshire, Thames Valley Hosting Centre is also ideal for companies who are designing disaster recovery requirements into their IT infrastructure.

Craig Martin, CEO, DediPower remarked, ”Favorit are at the forefront of technology, delivering an integrated blogging portal. At DediPower it is exciting to work and support companies like Favorit who are pushing the boundaries in how we communicate and operate via the internet. Managed Hosting companies are enablers and help underpin businesses in today’s eBusiness economies.”

DediPower Managed Hosting will also exhibit at the Internet World 2008, Earls Court, London, 29th April – 1st May, at stand E220.

DediPower, one of the UK’s fastest growing managed hosting providers, delivers a range of managed hosting solutions including: dedicated servers, application and exchange hosting, high availability multi-server clusters and co-location. DediPower is a Microsoft Gold Certified partner and a RedHat Ready Hosting partner. A winner of numerous awards, hosted sites include Sony, Sam Learning, Institute of Physics, Coca-Cola, Capita, First Great Western and Carphone Warehouse. Established in 1998 and self funded, DediPower runs its own purpose built data centres totalling over 22,000 sq ft situated in Reading, UK.

[Hosting Headlines] – SoftLayer, provider of on-demand hosting services for the small to medium enterprise (SME), has completed provisioning a second 10G connection in Seattle with backbone carrier, Qwest.

Having multiple 10G connections provisioned with Qwest and Internap, Seattle customers are now one hop away from seven IP backbone carriers that are part of the SoftLayer network.

SoftLayer selected Qwest because of it status as the recognized bandwidth leader in the Northwest. George Karidis, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer of SoftLayer noted, ”This was a mandatory step for us to take prior to building out our next Server Pod in Seattle. We know the level of redundancy and quality that our customers expect and we will not deliver anything less.”

SoftLayer has also started its Phase 2 of construction in Seattle to provide space for an additional 3,000 servers; Phase 1 was completely filled in less than three months from initial launch. Phase 2 will come on line in April. When fully built out, the SoftLayer’s Seattle Datacenter Pods will have capacity for more than 10,000 servers.

Mr. Kardis offered, ”We have had strong demand for our Seattle location and have fully utilized the initial 2,000 server capacity. The proximity of our datacenter to high capacity links to Asia has driven much of this demand. We expect demand for access to the SoftLayer infrastructure to only continue to grow as we get closer to the Beijing Olympic Games later this year. We are a natural dropping off point for companies looking for on-demand IT infrastructure to support this global event.”

The SoftLayer datacenter in Seattle is only a short distance from the new Verizon-led consortium bringing an oceanic fiber landing that will provide up to 5.12 Tbps in bandwidth connectivity with Asia. This will be the shortest bandwidth route across the Pacific.

With the immediate availability of the Juniper Networks J-series services routers, Verizon Business becomes the first U.S.-based service provider to deliver a managed serviceto enterprise customers for this class of routers. By offering management of the Juniper Networks J-series services routers, Verizon Business is helping enterprise customers take full advantage of the Juniper platform by reducing the day-to-day management burden so that the customer’s technical staff can focus on critical business initiatives.

The Juniper Networks platform provides the foundation for real-time delivery of critical networking applications and is particularly well-suited to extended enterprises – dispersed organizations with branch and regional offices requiring secure and direct connections with suppliers, partners and customers.

Nancy Gofus, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Verizon Business noted, ”Every customer has specific networking requirements, especially when it comes to connecting their extended network to corporate resources. Adding the Juniper Networks J-series services routers to our broad suite of managed options underscores our commitment to delivering choice and flexibility to large-business and government customers.”

Verizon Business plans to subsequently build on today’s announcement by offering a powerful branch office services delivery platform based on the Juniper Networks J-series services routers and that integrates managed routing, security and other services, including Internet protocol (IP) telephony.

The Juniper Networks J-series services routers join Verizon Business’ already extensive managed services portfolio, end-to-end network management resources and advanced monitoring systems. Leveraging Juniper Networks’ modular JUNOS(TM) software, which provides a single-source operating system, the J-series services routers deliver advanced features and services, consistent implementation, and universal configuration and management tools. The managed Juniper Networks J-series services routers offer predictable high performance and flexibility, providing enterprises fast and secure delivery of business-critical applications across corporate networks, while helping ensure that information-technology initiatives deliver cost-effective and measurable business value.

The new managed service offering is available immediately to U.S.-based medium- and large-sized business and government customers. It has been certified with a variety of Verizon Business networking services, including company’s flagship Private IP, a multi-protocol labeling, system-based virtual private network service, as well as the company’s private line and frame relay services.
The company’s multi-tiered approach to network management enables it to help enterprises reduce the complexity associated with an IP environment. Verizon Business’ IMPACT management platform supports its industry-leading service level commitments and enables the company to offer customer with the fully managed service option an actual time-to-repair commitment as low as 3.5 hours in the U.S.; the majority of Verizon Business’ competitors still offer a mean time-to-repair commitment.

Verizon Business manages 260,000-plus devices on more than 4,200 customer networks in 142 countries and territories, overseeing non-Verizon connections from more than 60 network providers around the world. Verizon Business’ industry-leading service-level commitments and award-winning IMPACT management platform underscore its legacy of service and innovation. Verizon Business also offers a suite of professional network and security services to help customers successfully deploy and manage their IP networks.

[Hosting Headlines] - Self declared world’s largest privately held dedicated hosting company, The Planet, yesterday announced the addition of four new customer success videos to its Web site. The videos feature testimonials from the executives of small- and medium-size companies that host their IT infrastructures and businesses with The Planet. In each case, the executives clearly articulate how they use The Planet’s network, data centers and products to grow their businesses.

The company plans additional videos over the coming year.

“There’s no one more qualified to talk about The Planet’s products and services than our own customers,” said The Planet’s Vice President of Marketing and Product Management Steve Kahan. “Customers often tell us that they come to The Planet for its world-class data centers and network, and then find additional benefits such as our uptime and customer support. More often than not, they’ve hosted with other providers and are looking for a company with a solid reputation that understands the critical business issues they face. These new videos clearly illustrate why The Planet is the right fit for more than 22,000 businesses around the world.”

Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe – Personal Touch, Global Reach.

Houston, Texas – [Hosting Headlines] – The Planet, a privately held dedicated web hosting company have partnered with hosting and web infrastructure service integrator, NTT America, Inc. (NTTA), and will offer over 20,000 customers, access to IPv6, the next-generation Internet protocol.

Development on the project begins immediately, and The Planet expects to announce availability in late 2008. IPv6 provides a vast improvement over the current IPv4, deployed in the 1980s, by increasing address space, providing support for mobile devices, and improving quality of service and data security.

Stan Barber, Vice President, Network Operations, at The Planet noted, ”One of our top priorities at The Planet is to make sure all of our customers have access to the best technologies to keep their businesses competitive now and in the future. As the Internet grows in complexity and becomes even more ubiquitous, we’re looking to the future so that we are fully prepared to meet the vast needs of our customers. Working with NTT America allows us to add the considerable benefits of IPv6 to The Planet’s network and to help our customers prepare for the continued impact the Internet will have on their companies.”

As one of the first hosting companies to announce its plans for IPv6, The Planet continues to provide enhancements that give current customers methodologies to be ready today and for the future. By adding NTT America’s IPv6 transit to The Planet network, The Planet will be able to offer each hosting customer an innovative, dual-stack approach, which provides the most efficient approach for using both IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously.

NTT Communications Group has been directly involved with the development and deployment of IPv6 technology since 1996. With the launch of IPv6 transit services in 2001 and the first IPv6 managed firewall solution in 2005, which was provided by NTT America, the NTT Communications Group established itself as the global leader in commercial IPv6 managed services solutions.

Michael Wheeler, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at NTT America remarked, ”As the operator of the world’s largest commercial IPv6 network and with more than ten years of direct involvement with its development and deployment, we are pleased to be able to be working with The Planet to create long-term sustainable growth for their customers on the Internet. We continue to be committed to bringing superior technology, solutions and services to our customers worldwide.”

The NTT Communications Group provides IPv6 Gateway services that are available globally and allow enterprises to connect to the world’s only commercial-grade Global Tier One IPv6 Backbone operating in four continents-North America, Europe, Asia and Australia-and serving thousands of customers. In addition, NTT has improved upon the inherent security features of IPv6 with the creation of its IntelliSecurity IPv6 Managed Firewall solution. The solution complements the NTT Communications Group’s existing suite of managed IPv6 Gateway Services, and satisfies the need for increased security for IPv6 users. NTT America also provides IPv6 transition solutions through its IPv6 Transition Consultancy, which supports companies’ and federal agencies’ smooth transition to the upgraded IPv6 network with specialized products and knowledge accumulated through the NTT Communications Group’s successful commercial implementation of IPv6 technology.

Ultimately, The Planet’s goal is to provide:

High levels of network capacity and speed to deliver peak performance

Instant scalability to handle even the largest spikes in network traffic

Parallel, redundant, multi-tiered network routing and switching architecture to assure reliability and stability

Multiple layer network security that prevents Delayed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks from harming businesses

Knowledgeable experts with a passion for excellence and a commitment to operate the best networks in the business

The Planet is a leading provider of On Demand IT Infrastructure solutions, hosting over 22,000 small and medium size businesses and 3.1 million web sites worldwide, using the best choice of servers, software tools and support, backed by enhanced facilities and network connectivity.
